Hey there, makers. We spent some time with the Japandi Santa figurine 3D print, looked at it from every angle, and put together a closer look at what makes this design tick.

A Japandi Santa figurine 3D print is not the Santa you grew up with. This one trades the usual red-cheeked, fur-trimmed look for something quieter: a ribbed body, a curved hat, and a single soft pom-pom, built for a home that leans toward clean lines rather than clutter.

Sektor 7 Studios calls it their Abstract Japandi Santa, and the name does the explaining. Japandi mixes Japanese restraint with Scandinavian warmth, and that’s exactly the balance this little figure strikes. It keeps the silhouette everyone recognizes, hat and all, but strips away the busy details until what’s left is texture and shape.

What the ribbed body and hat actually look like

The body is where the design does its work. Vertical grooves run the length of it, catching light and shadow in a way that a smooth surface never could. It reads as sculptural rather than seasonal, so it would not look out of place on a shelf in February either.

The hat keeps the classic curve and a textured brim, finished with a small fluffy pom-pom at the tip. Because the pom-pom is printed as its own piece, you get a bit of dimensional detail at the very top without needing multicolor printing to achieve it.

Why this Japandi Santa figurine 3D print needs no AMS

The whole model is designed around single-color parts. Print the body in one filament, the hat in another, the pom-pom in a third if you like, and glue them together once everything is off the plate. There’s no color-change tooling involved, no multi-material setup, no AMS required at any point.

That makes it a straightforward print for anyone with a basic single-extruder machine. The recommendation is matte ivory or white PLA for the body and a bright red PLA for the hat, which gives you the classic Christmas palette while letting the ribbed texture catch the light properly. Matte filament in particular is called out as the better match for those grooves.

Assembly is three parts and a bit of glue

Once the three components, body, hat, and pom-pom, are printed, assembly is simple. The pom-pom gets glued to the tip of the hat first, then the hat sits down onto the body and gets secured the same way. Let the glue cure fully before you move it, and that’s the entire build process. No supports to clean inside tight joints, no fasteners, no alignment pins to fuss over.

This also means you can mix and match colors across prints. A white body with a green hat, a natural wood-toned filament for something more neutral, or the classic red and white combination all work with the same three files.

Where it sits in a holiday setup

Because it’s compact and self-contained, this figurine fits wherever a small seasonal object fits: a mantelpiece, a windowsill, a sideboard next to other Christmas pieces, or a desk if you want a bit of the season at work without going overboard. It also holds up as a gift. A finished, assembled Santa in a color you’ve picked yourself has more presence than most small printed objects, and it costs little beyond print time and a bit of glue.

Sektor 7 Studios released this as their first free Christmas design, with a second Santa version said to be on the way. If you’re curious about their style, this is a low-risk way to try one of their models before looking at anything from their commercial catalog. The files are available as STL for any printer and as pre-configured 3MF profiles for Bambu Lab machines, both offered through MakerWorld at no cost.

The design talk ends here, but the printing part is just getting started. Have fun with the Japandi Santa figurine 3D print, try your own colors and materials, and we will meet again in the next studio log.
