Skeleton Head Wine Bottle Topper, a Bold Gothic Gift
Printable stopper in five sizes with an adaptable TPU insert option

Hello makers, designers, and people checking their printer from another room every five minutes. Today we are exploring the Skeleton Head Wine Bottle Topper, from its overall concept down to the details that give it character.
The skeleton head wine bottle topper started from a familiar moment: handing someone a bottle of wine and thinking it still looked plain. Leon from Sektor 7 Studios built this cap to fix exactly that, turning an ordinary bottle into something with a gothic-romantic edge the moment you push it over the neck.
The idea itself is simple to grasp. It’s a decorative stopper shaped like a skull, sized to sit on top of a wine bottle rather than inside it. There’s no mechanism, no assembly beyond pushing it into place, which means the transformation from plain bottle to table centerpiece happens in seconds.
What the skeleton head wine bottle topper looks like on a bottle
Once it’s on, the bottle reads completely differently. The skull sits right at the neck, catching the eye before the label does, and it works whether the bottle is standing on a dinner table or tucked into a gift bag. Filament choice does a lot of the work here: a matte black finish leans into the gothic mood, while silk or metallic filaments give it a more polished, almost jewelry-like presence. Marble filament is another option worth trying if you want something that looks less like plastic and more like carved stone.
Why does it come in so many sizes?
Wine bottles aren’t all built the same, and a cap that only fits one neck diameter would be useless on half the bottles people actually buy. That’s why the skeleton head wine bottle topper is offered in five diameters: 29.0 mm, 29.5 mm, 30.0 mm, 30.5 mm, and 32.0 mm. Picking the right one means measuring the bottle neck first, since a loose or overly tight fit will undercut the whole effect.
The 32.0 mm version goes a step further. It’s designed to pair with an optional TPU inlet, a flexible strip you bend and glue inside the cap. Once it’s in place, the TPU adapts its shape to grip necks that don’t match any of the rigid sizes exactly. It’s a practical workaround for anyone who doesn’t want to print four or five separate versions just to cover whatever bottles happen to be in the house.
A gift piece more than a daily object
This isn’t something that lives on a shelf collecting dust between uses. It’s made for the moment a bottle changes hands: a birthday, a dinner invitation, a Halloween gathering, or a Valentine’s gift where the dark, romantic tone actually fits the occasion. Anyone who already leans toward gothic or dramatic home decor will find it an easy match, but it also works as a one-off conversation piece for someone who just likes the look.
Because the print itself is small and quick to finish, it’s an easy thing to batch in a few colors and keep on hand. Giving a bottle of wine with this already capped removes the need for separate wrapping or a card. The object does the presentation on its own.
Printing and getting the files
Files are shared as STL, with Bambu Lab-ready 3MF versions in the works. Personal use access comes through a membership, with a separate commercial license available for anyone who wants to sell printed versions rather than keep them for personal gifting. Beyond picking the right neck diameter and deciding whether to add the TPU inlet, there isn’t much setup involved — it’s a design meant to be printed, popped onto a bottle, and handed over.
For anyone unsure which version to start with, the 32.0 mm cap with the TPU inlet is the more flexible choice if you’re planning to gift wine regularly and don’t want to be locked into one bottle shape. If you know exactly which bottle you’re dressing up, measuring the neck and matching it to one of the fixed sizes will give the cleanest fit without any extra assembly.
Thanks for following along. Whether the Skeleton Head Wine Bottle Topper ends up on a desk, shelf, wall, table, or somewhere we never expected, we would love to see what you make with it.
